NBC Hopes Early Success of ‘The Office’ Will Boost Lagging ‘Scrubs’

This season, ratings for The Office are up 27 percent over last season’s 4.0, hitting a 5.1 rating in adults 18-49 over its four hour-long episodes, and putting it at No. 8 in that demo in prime time.

That growth comes despite some tough competition, writes Media Life; it airs against CBS’s CSI and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

Beginning tonight, NBC is following The Office with Scrubs, a show that critics have loved but that fans have yet to embrace. The network is hoping the early success of The Office will help boost the hospital comedy. The trailer for tonight’s show on NBC is calling this the final season of Scrubs.
