Hulu Launches in Beta; Shows Already on AOL

NBCU and News Corp. have finally launched its online video hub Hulu in limited beta testing mode.

Upon launch, Hulu.com has a stock of television programming from NBC and Fox, as well as Sony and MGM, both of which signed on seemingly just hours before the site went live, reports Variety (via MarketingVOX).

Universal and 20th Century Fox also provided 10 feature films, including Sideways and The Blues Brothers.

Video on the site includes 15- and 30-second ads that cannot be skipped. If the site catches on among audiences, it could allegedly speed the transfer of dollars to online video.

According to PaidContent, advertisers upon launch include Toyota, Nissan, General Motors and Intel.

Users cannot upload their own content to Hulu.com. They can, however, take content from the site and post it to their blog or social network profile.

While beta invites have been limited, TechCrunch reports the Hulu channel on AOL Video is active. Episodes and clips posted on user’s sites are also available to the general public.
