Magna: TV Viewing up 1 Percent with Live-Plus-7-Day Ratings

Though industry chatter has had it that television viewing is down - and certainly live program ratings do show that the five broadcast networks have slipped a huge 11 percent in 18-49 ratings - that is far from the whole picture.

Live-plus-seven-day ratings are actually up, says Steve Sternberg, executive vp of audience analysis for Magna Global (via MediaPost). “We see that overall television usage isn’t down at all from last season. It’s up 1 percent.” That’s up 2 percent for ad-supported cable and down 4 percent for the broadcast networks.

Based on those ratings among the 18-49 demo, ABC leads the networks with 4.0, down 2 percent from last year. CBS takes second with a 3.6, down 10 percent.

Fox is up a whopping 21 percent, to a 3.6.

NBC follows with a 3.5, down 6 percent, and the CW comes last, with a 1.3, down 13 percent.
