CBS News Employees Authorize a Strike

CBS News employees, represented by the WGA East, have approved a strike authorization vote. The employees have been working without a contract for more than two years.

The authorization was approved by 81 percent of the CBS News employees in a special election Thursday and Friday, writes the Hollywood Reporter.

A strike will not necessarily be the result of the vote; it now has to be approved by the negotiating committee and the upper echelon of the WGAE.

The negotiations affect about 300 employees, who have been without a contract since April 2005, and without a pay raise since April 2004.

CBS has said that a strike would not interrupt its newscasts, according to Lost Remote.
