Three-Day Commercial Ratings Slip Significantly when Compared with Live

According to a recent analysis by Magna Global, the five networks lost an average of 13 percent in ratings, when examining program ratings with three days of DVR playback versus commercial ratings with three days of DVR playback.

ABC lost 12 percent, Fox lost 13 percent, CBS lost 14 percent, NBC lost 15 percent and CW slipped 17 percent, writes MediaPost.

The numbers are double the rate of ratings lost between live program ratings versus live commercial ratings, which come in at 6 percent.

The show that fared worst in retaining viewers during commercials was NBC’s Heroes, which fell 25 percent. The best was Fox’s King of the Hill, which lost only 1 percent.
