Dennis Publishing Releases Facebook ‘Bookazine’

Dennis Publishing is launching a magazine/book hybrid based on Facebook. The 148-page “bookazine” is a step-by-step guide that includes everything from getting started to smart security tips, says Dennis Publishing’s lifestyle division managing editor, Bruce Sandell.

The publication is being produced without the cooperation of the social networking site, writes the Guardian Unlimited.

“Like many media companies we have a huge amount of Facebook fans at Dennis. We thought we could channel that enthusiasm with our expert knowledge of ‘how to’ bookazines to make a really compelling product that taps into a massive consumer interest at exactly the right time,” Sandell is quoted as saying.

Dennis has 15 such bookazines in its stable, including one for the iPhone and the iPod, high-definition television and men’s fitness.

The publisher has printed 20,000 copies of The Independent Guide to Facebook. It will retail for 5.99 pounds and will remain on shelves for up to six months.
