Lawmaker Opposes Sirius-XM Merger

Should the proposed merger of Sirius Satellite Radio and XM pass regulatory hurdles, the elimination of competition would be harmful to consumers of satellite radio, says Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA).

In a letter to FCC chairman Kevin Martin, Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Federal Trade Commission chairman Deborah Platt Majoras, Broun said the FCC demonstrated sound reasoning when it said, before granting satellite radio licenses to XM and Sirius, that one licensee would not be allowed to acquire the other, writes Radio Ink.
