Scripps Launches Website for Shuttered ‘Kentucky Post’

The Cincinnati and Kentucky Post newspapers printed their final print editions on Monday, but announced in those editions that the parent company will keep a Kentucky Post website alive.

Parent company E.W. Scripps Co. decided in July to close the Post newspapers after a joint operating agreement with Gannett Co. expired at the end of 2007, writes the AP (via Yahoo News). A story in Monday’s papers reported that the company had decided to keep a Kentucky presence with kypost.com.

The new site will pull content from a Scripps-owned Cincinnati TV station, WCPO-TV, and its website.

The website is dedicated to Northern Kentucky. “We’ll keep you up to date on breaking news, informed on the issues of the day and aware of what’s going on in your hometown and around the Commonwealth…. Whether it’s Petersburg, California, Grant’s Lick, Covington or some place between, when news breaks in Northern Kentucky you find it here,” the new website announces.

Post staffer Kerry Duke will stay on as the site’s managing editor. Stories from a full-time reporter, freelance journalists and citizen journalists will round out the reporting.
