Microsoft Pens Video Agreements with ABC, NBC U and MGM

Microsoft has announced partnerships with Walt Disney Co., NBC Universal and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to boost online video sales and to better compete with iTunes.

Owners of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console will be able to buy shows from Disney’s ABC and watch films from MGM, Bloomberg writes. Microsoft will also develop NBC’s website for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The announcements were made yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show. Microsoft also announced that its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) technology, Mediaroom, is now in more than 1 million set-top boxes worldwide.
