L’Oreal Revenue Climbs 6.6 Percent

Fourth quarter profits for L’Oreal SA, the world’s biggest maker of cosmetics, climb 6.6 percent to $6.5 billion on increased sales of skin creams in Asia and Eastern Europe, new perfume launches and the rebuilding of distribution in the U.S.

North American sales, recovering from a loss of revenue in 2006 when U.S. department-store mergers reduced the number of outlets selling L’Oreal’s products, climbed 7.2 percent in the quarter, Bloomberg writes.

In western Europe, sales rose 5.3 percent. Eastern European sales gained 29 percent, and Asian sales grew 16 percent.
