With media veteran Gerry Byrne set to helm, Nielsen Business Media has created a new entertainment group consolidating all of the company’s entertainment brands under one umbrella.
The New York-based Byrne will serve as senior vp reporting to Nielsen Business Media president Greg Farrar. Charged with the stewardship of global entertainment, music and literary publishing, Byrne will oversee Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Kirkus Reviews and other publications, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
His role will also include overseeing film industry meetings such as ShoWest, ShoEast, Cinema Expo International and CineAsia Exposition.
Before the restructuring, Nielsen had two groups to handle its entertainment trade and business groups (Film & Performing Arts and Music & Literary).
Nielsen expects the new entertainment group to provide advertisers more enhanced, integrated opportunities to connect with their audiences across Nielsen’s platforms.
The consolidation of the two units sees the departure of John Kilcullen, who had been senior vice president of Film & Performing Arts and Music & Literary groups since October 2006.
