Rachael Ray Here to Stay, at Least until 2010

Despite the report published by the New York Post’s Page Six, which stated that the bubbly Oprah protege Rachael Ray may get the boot at the end of her syndicated talk show’s contract, the show’s director of publicity says  the show is here to stay.

According to the New York Post, the show’s ratings are slim. But Charles Dougiello, Rachael Ray’s publicist and the director of publicity for the Rachael Ray show, says last season the show averaged 2,552,000 viewers per show, and that number is up slightly this season. He also said Rachael Ray outperformed all other talk shows during the February sweeps except for Dr. Phil.

The Post also reported that if Ray gets the axe, King World is producing a chat show for Marie Osmond, which may succeed Ray. Dougiello pointed out that King World, which is now actually called CBS Television Distribution, has nothing to do with the proposed Marie Osmond show. Rather, it is being pitched around town by another syndication company, Program Partners.

The Rachael Ray show has been renewed through 2010.
