But Will Donna Lose it? 90210 May Ride Again on CW

The CW has commissioned a fresh take on Brenda, Kelly and Dylan with a spinoff of the 90’s teen sudser Beverly Hills, 90210.

Rob Thomas, creator of Veronica Mars, may pen the fast-track project. Details at the moment are sketchy - such as if characters from the original will be imported in a fresh way - and CW is expected to make a decision on ordering a pilot by the end of March.

CAA, packager of the original 90210, is the mastermind behind the spin-off idea. Original 90210 creator Darren Star, reported the Hollywood Reporter, is not involved.

The original 90210 spawned the successful Melrose Place, though none of 90210’s regulars made the leap to the randy apartment complex drama.

The timing for more rich kids in rarefied surroundings may be opportune: CW’s Gossip Girl features privileged kids doing naughty things in Manhattan.
