Frustrated media buyers may have been instrumental in speeding up how fast magazine sales numbers will be posted.
The Audit Bureau of Circulations board is expected to announce today that the board approved a recommendation from its magazine buyers’ advisory committee that weeklies and monthlies file initial postings to its online Rapid Report service no later than three and seven weeks, respectively, after on-sale dates. Today, that average first posting is about seven weeks for weeklies and about 11 weeks for monthlies, according to MediaWeek.
ABC is hopeful that publishers will embrace the recommendation, which it failed to make a requirement.
