Yahoo Thinks 25-54 Women Good Demo to Explore

Yahoo has launched the new property Shine, a site targeted at women 25-54 and underserved by Yahoo’s current properties.

The site, which will give the struggling internet company more ad revenue opportunities, is a tardy foray into a market well covered by competitors such as iVillage. It’s the first Yahoo property aimed at a single demo and will offer content on topics such as parenting, sex, healthy living, money, fashion, beauty and home. Shine will likely take over for the existing Yahoo food site.

Shine exclusive content will be developed through partnerships with media companies such as Hearst Communications Inc. and Rodale Inc. Yahoo has hired a team of editors to produce original material. In a departure from other Yahoo sites, Shine, according to Yahoo News, will be presented in blog form, with newest items on top and editor commentary.
