A Sears survey found that three out of five people are interested in investing in small home improvements that can make a difference, despite the sluggish economy.
With that in mind, the retailer is launching a “Reinvent Your Kitchen” campaign that will include $15,000 in appliance prizes, 30-minute custom-produced TV shows in nine major markets, newspapers and radio, according to MediaPost.
The campaign, an extension of Sears’s Reimagine You campaign that launched last month, focuses on style. A new report from the NPD Group says shoppers are counting on sleek looks more than ever when considering purchases. Black appliances took market share from white ones in 2007 and, despite financial concerns, consumers are snapping up pricier stainless steel appliances.
Leading retailers in the U.S. had a mixed March - discounters and wholesale retailers fared better than higher priced department stores and specialty stores. Wal-Mart Stores said its sales were up by 0.7 percent excluding gasoline sales. Target declined 4.4 percent. The largest department store, J.C.
