Teenie boppers can now tune in to a Radio Disney website and texting program via their cell phones, as long as the phones have internet access and data services.
The new Radio Disney Mobile website allows users of web-enabled mobile phones to receive fast delivery of Radio Disney information and services including the ability to listen to Radio Disney, see the last ten songs played on Radio Disney, find local Radio Disney stations, send shout-outs, request songs, view Radio Disney’s Top 30 and take a Radio Disney quick poll.
“With over 40 percent of tweens in the U.S. having mobile phones, it is important for Radio Disney to provide a mobile touchpoint for our core audience. The Radio Disney Mobile website and texting program provides our listeners a new way to interact with Radio Disney wherever and whenever they want,” stated Michael Peterson, executive director, Digital Distribution, Radio Disney.
For now, the site is flying under the radar, with little marketing beyond banner ads on MySpace and Disney.com. A broader strategy will begin this summer, says Trish Halamandaris, vp/marketing and carrier sales at mDisney, writes MediaPost.
