Charming Shoppes Considers Offloading Non-Core Assets

Charming Shoppes is considering selling off its non-core catalogs in order to focus on Lane Bryant, Catherines and Fashion Bug, writes Multichannel Merchant.

The company has received inquiries from qualified third parties about the titles, which presumably include Crosstown Traders titles (Old Pueblo Traders, Intimate Appeal, Coward Shoe, Bedford Fair Lifestyles, Bedford Fair Shoestyles, Willow Ridge, Lew Magram, Brownstone Studio and Monterey Bay Clothing Co.) and Figis.

The company has been under fire from institutional shareholders about the stock’s performance, which could have left it vulnerable to a change in its board of directors. The announcement may help keep that from happening.
