ABC Axes ‘Men In Trees’

ABC has chopped Men in Trees from its schedule, deciding not to renew the hour-long comedy that has seen six different time slots in its two-year run.

The show had a fiercely loyal following among women 18-49, but failed to get much traction in ratings, even after a lengthy run in the post Grey’s Anatomy slot, writes Media Life.

Most recently, the show aired on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. It averaged a 1.6 rating this season, just half of the 3.2 it averaged last season. The show will air its final episodes over the summer, following May sweeps.

ABC is expected to snare Scrubs from NBC and may also pick up The New Adventures of Old Christine if CBS chooses not to renew. Those two shows have solid ratings and would give the network an hour of established sitcoms, which ABC has been trying to nail down in recent years.
