Editors at Hachette’s digital operation will do well to have their digital skill sets firmly behind them. The company has reportedly chopped 15 editorial jobs from a staff of about 100 in its digital operation; those positions will eventually be refilled by employees with a “new skill set,” writes WWD.
The restructuring came at the behest of Todd Anderman, who took over as senior vp of digital media in January.
Meanwhile, over at Conde Nast, Gourmet vp and publisher Tom Hartman moved to the Conde Nast Media Group as vp of corporate sales. His position at Gourmet will be filled by Allure vp and publisher Nancy Berger Cardone. Hartman was publisher of Gourmet for less than a year, and was associate publisher for four years before that. During that time, ad pages fell 7 percent in 2007, according to the PIB. Through this month, pages fell 18 percent, per Media Industry Newsletter, WWD points out.
Under Cardone, Allure’s ad business increased: ad pages grew from 1,159 in 2001, when she took over, to 1,735 last year. Pages are down this year 3 percent so far.
