Harvard Alumni Magazine Sold to Manhattan Media

Harvard alumni magazine 02138, launched in 2006, has been purchased by Manhattan Media, which plans to create a social network surrounding the title and then duplicate the operation for other Ivy League schools. The magazine is mailed free to about 100,000 Harvard alumni.

Published reports from as late as April reported that Sandow Media, publisher of Worth magazine, was planning to purchase 02138 from Atlantic Media, writes The New York Times.

Bom Kim will stay on as publisher, and the new owners have said they hope executive editor Richard Bradley will also stay.

Frequency will jump from four to six issues a year. The next project is expected to be Yale or Princeton. The Ivy League publications will be launched under a new division, Ivy League Media, according to a release.

Manhattan Media owns Avenue magazine, New York Press, several local weekly newspapers in Manhattan, and two monthlies on New York politics.
