ABC’s Fall Brings Just 2 New Shows

The strike impaired ABC’s development of new television shows, and the network plans to unveil only two new series in the fall - and only one of them scripted.

Life on Mars is a police drama in which the hero detective has been transported back to the 70s; Opportunity Knocks is a game show in which producers arrive at a home and quiz family members about each other, writes the AP.

ABC has also announced that it has picked up Scrubs from NBC for midseason.

Shows that may not have been extended - including Eli Stone, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money - have all been given another chance next season.

The network has 17 series in development, but ABC pres Stephen McPherson said he wasn’t comfortable committing to any of the new shows until pilots had been filmed.
