ABC Stars Strut in Fall Season Promo

'Pushing Daisies' gets
big promo bucks

ABC will trot out its stable of stars in a campaign touting its fall schedule, beginning in mid-August. News personalities and daytime stars will be included in the campaign, which Marla Provencio, evp of marketing for ABC Entertainment, describes as something the network hasn’t done “for a long time.”

In the past, networks pulled together promotions featuring their stars at the start of each season, but such efforts fell out of favor as networks began to focus more on particular nights of the week or specific shows, writes MediaPost.

The campaign theme has not yet been disclosed. Other ABC promotions will focus on Desperate Housewives, reality show Opportunity Knocks, Pushing Daisies, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money. The latter three were freshman series from last year which lost momentum due to the writers strike. ABC sees fall promo time as a chance to “reset” those programs.

ABC’s fall season is set to launch Friday, September 19.
