Blimp advertising has moved beyond the MetLife or Goodyear blimp hovering over NFL football games. There are currently several companies in North America that offer blimps for rent or sale, and blimps can be seen everywhere from in the skies above used car lots to floating just below the ceiling at trade shows.
For tethered blimps for use on-site at events, some companies choose to purchase their own blimps, with prices ranging from $480 to $1,000 for a 13- to 20-foot model, writes Media Life. Smaller, remote controlled indoor dirigibles can be rigged to drop prizes or coupons on the crowd below at trade shows or events.
Then there are full-sized blimps like the iconic Goodyear airship. Some, like the Lightship Group’s video lightsign airship, feature LED screens and go for between $4 million and $6 million for a 12-month rental. Other companies offering airship rentals and purchase include Aerial Products and Mobile Airships.
