mtvU Unveils 25 Local Sites for College Students

mtvU launched today (Tuesday) a series of 25 localized websites geared toward students at individual U.S. colleges. The sites allow users to search for local entertainment listings, including restaurants, nightlife, sporting events, concerts and movies, all of which include dates and time, ticket prices, descriptions, venue info, ratings, and more.

The mtvU Campus Daily Guides sites also connect students with campus headline news from mtvU’s College Media Network, professor ratings from RateMyProfessors.com, and local and national mtvU programming.

Users can contribute content by adding their own reviews, ratings, comments, and photos, and can also add and promote their own events and activities.

The Campus Daily Guides feature targeted banner advertising and free and paid event and promotion listings for merchants. mtvU explains ad opportunities thus: “The local online model offers very specific, localized advertising opportunities that aggregate an extremely targeted local college audience. mtvU is also working closely with College Media Network affiliates in the regions launching Campus Daily Guides to collaborate on content and local advertising efforts.”

mtvU will launch another 25 before the end of 2008. The sites are powered by Zvents, with content provided by Zvents’ more than 250 media partners, through web crawlers, and user-generated content.
