In commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the March on Washington and the ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, Clear Channel has 38 local stations nationwide collaborating on a radiothon on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The radiothon, in conjunction with the Washington, D.C., Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, will have all participating stations nationwide soliciting donations on-air and online. Listeners will be directed to the Memorial Foundation’s website or to an 800 number to make a donation. All funds raised from the campaign will go towards the Memorial, which will be erected on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Samuel L. Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Stephanie Mills, Tom Joyner, General Colin Powell, Brandy, Al Roker and Ice Cube, among others, will be featured throughout the day.
Interspersed throughout the feel-good fundraising, regular advertiser messages will run.
