LA-based nvohk, a green clothing store that launched before the holidays, lets consumers actively shape its future.
The online retailer positions itself as the first eco-friendly, community-managed clothing firm. Members are recruited en masse and encouraged to contribute $50 each to help co-develop nvohk.
Contributors assist in developing the logo, products and web design. They also assist in advertising efforts and garner 35 percent of net profits.
Profits distributed to nvohk members are disseminated as points redeemable for discounted products.
nvohk donates 10 percent of net profits to environmental organizations, which are also selected by members.
According to Springwise, 400 people registered for nvohk in January. The firm is awaiting the addition of 5000 members before soliciting $50 development contributions.
