Redplum.com and SmartSource.com Pair to Expand Digital Coupon Offers

Valassis, a leading media and marketing services companies, and News America Marketing, a division of News Corporation and provider of coupons, consumer promotions and advertising services, announced today a cross-publishing deal to expand the digital offers on Valassis' redplum.com and News America Marketing's SmartSource.com coupon and savings websites. According to the BIGResearch/Valassis eCoupon Survey (November 2010), nearly 60% of consumers are seeking coupons online each month, according to their news release.

quadrantONE Ad Exchange Focuses on Premium Local Audience

quadrantONE, a joint venture of four major media companies (Tribune Company, Gannett Co., Inc., Hearst Corporation and The New York Times Company) today announced the launch of Q-Exchange, the first private ad exchange focused on premium local audiences. The exchange, which is powered by technology from Admeld, enables quadrantONE to safely and transparently monetize their inventory through Real Time Bidding (RTB). Admeld introduced the industry's first private exchange in November 2010 with the launch of The Weather Channel's 'Category 5' platform. In January 2010, the company collaborated with The IDG TechNetwork on launching TMX, the first private exchange for the technology vertical.

  • Most industries increased outdoor advertising expenditures in 2010, but media and the financial and government sectors recorded the most growth, reports the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA). Overall, Out of home advertising revenue rose 4.1 percent in 2010, accounting for more than $6.1 billion. The added returns this year over last is in line with the industry’s steady recovery since late 2009.

Former Homeless Ted “Golden Voice” Williams Signed Over to Max Media

  • Max Media Group announced today that it has entered a Letter of Intent to acquire majority control of Golden Voice Media, a multimedia advertising, production and distribution company that owns the Talent Development rights to Ted "Golden Voice" Williams ("TED"); the homeless man with the Golden Voice that generated national media attention. Williams has executed a Talent Agreement with GVM to provide his talents for use as a revenue generating vehicle for GVM. The Agreement provides for 50% of gross revenue generated for any and all entertainment services, including voice-over work, television and radio production, movie, music and book publishing rights, according to the news release.

IAB Names 2010 Leaders Interactive Ad Sales

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) today announced the winners of its 2010 Sales & Service Excellence Awards. The awards are given to individuals and organizations that have excelled in interactive advertising sales. The IAB Service Excellence Awards honor outstanding member contributions to IAB industry-related initiatives. Category winners include Scripps Networks (large digital sales organizations), Undertone (small- to mid-size digital sales organizations), Pandora (most innovative) and Turn (best newcomer). IAB, with Advertiser Perceptions, surveyed approximately 400 agency and marketer decision-makers to identify the winning sales organizations and individuals.

  • CBS Corp. and Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros. unit stopped production of “Two and a Half Men,” citing the behavior and remarks of star Charlie Sheen, reports Bloomberg.com. “Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the remainder of the season,” the companies said yesterday in an e-mailed statement.
