‘Domino’ Gets New Bigshot Publishing Director

Published on January 13, 2009 | Email this article

Conde Nast has named a new publishing director for troubled shelter magazine Domino.

Bill Wackerman will take on the role of publishing director; publisher Beth Brenner will retain her title but will now report to Wackerman, writes the New York Observer.

Wackerman oversees Glamour, one of Conde Nast’s most profitable titles, and is always in the running for CN’s Publisher of the Year title. His appointment might give the title, which has been the subject of repeated rumors that it is on the brink of being shuttered, more weight with advertisers, according to AdAge.

Domino saw a 6% increase on the newsstand in 2008; its rate base has more than doubled from its 400,000 at launch, to 850,000, according to Conde Nast. Ad pages fell 4.5% in 2008, following a 3.7% decrease in 2007.

Shelter titles to fold in recent months include Meredith’s Country Home, Time Inc.‘s Cottage Living, and Hearst’s O at Home.
