Publicis Purchases Asia Shop, W&K Communications

Published on December 02, 2008 | Email this article

Publicis has acquired full-service agency W&K Communications, continuing its Asia expansion that began several years ago.

W&K will be pulled under the umbrella of Publicis’s Burnett agency network, and will be renamed Leo Burnett Beijing Advertising, writes Adweek.

Other recent Publicis acquisitions in Asia include i-shop Emporio Asia in May, CCG in 2007 and Betterway Marketing in 2006.

Publicis’s third quarter revenue fell about 1.5% to $1.105 billion compared to the same quarter in 2007. Expecting a difficult time for the ad industry throughout the remainder of 2008 and a slowdown next year, Publicis CEO Maurice Levy said the company will focus on the digital sector and other high-growth markets.
