Published on October 06, 2008 | Email this article

A “Money Bus” took off to begin its tour of the country this week. The bus - part of a campaign by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Consumer Education Foundation, and TD Ameritrade Institutional - will travel the country offering free financial advice to consumers.

The bus will tour for a full year; the first leg of the tour takes the bus to East coast cities, including Philly, New York, Hartford, Providence (Rhode Island), Portland (Maine), Richmond, Charlotte, and Atlanta.

The Money Bus will stop at various public venues in each city, including the NASDAQ, Times Square, Grand Central Station, and the United Nations in New York as well as the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.

At each city stop, volunteer Fee-Only financial advisors will be on-hand to conduct free advice events and symposiums to address consumers’ pressing financial concerns.  Press conferences and other awareness-building stops will also be conducted.
