Giant Knitted Billboard Heads to Liverpool

Published on June 03, 2008 | Email this article

The world’s first hand-knitted billboard has been created in the U.K. by Sky TV and the Women’s Institute, to launch a campaign seeking to find a Women’s Institute member to become a presenter on Sky Learning.

The billboard measures 6 meters by 3 meters and was knitted by members of the Women’s Institute using about 50 miles worth of wool, writes the Guardian.

The campaign promotes the search for a presenter to host a How To series of guides to modern life that will be broadcast on Sky TV’s Sky Learning. Only members of the 250,000-strong institute are eligible to become the presenter.

The billboard is on its way to Liverpool on the back of a truck to make it for the Women’s Institute annual general meeting.
