NBC Considers Scrapping Upfront Festivities

Published on January 18, 2008 | Email this article

NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker is considering scrapping its May upfront presentations in the face of the writers strike that is causing so much uncertainty in the television industry.

Zucker points out that the “upfront” can mean two things: the dog-and-pony show held for advertisers and media buyers at Radio City Music Hall, and the way advertising is sold for an upcoming television season, writes Reuters. The way inventory is sold will not change, but the dog-and-pony show is “completely under review here and you can look for an announcement on that from us very soon,” he is quoted as saying.
