Sony Announces In-Game Ad Group

Sony looks to be focused on becoming a player in the growing field of in-game advertising, having announced a new division focused on ad sales.

It is unclear whether Sony plans to build out its own in-game advertising platform or to partner with an in-game vendor, writes Mediaweek.

The new division will look at how to place brands within its “Home” virtual world and other games, writes MarketingVOX. Some will be in places players would expect to see ads in the real world, such as on billboards.

The new Sony Computer Entertainment division is being headed by Darlene Kindler, previously head of publishing at Adscape.
