Bluetooth Advertising Goes Bar-Hopping in NY, LA, Chicago

Published on August 14, 2007 | Email this article

Advertisers wishing to reach people at bars have a new way to interact with those beer-imbibing patrons. Through a partnership with Kameleon Mobizone, Zoom Media & Marketing is offering a network that uses Bluetooth technology in 100 bars and restaurants in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Advertisers can broadcast free, ad-related video trailers, music tracks, movie previews, sports clips and coupon offers to Bluetooth-enabled phones.

According to Lee Levitz, vp of marketing for Zoom Media, Zoom’s network of restaurants and nightclubs are perfect locations for the Bluetooth-enabled billboards because of the high traffic levels, and the ability to attract affluent, young, trend-setting consumers that often spend long periods of ‘dwell time’ around the boards.
