Clear Channel Signs for PPM in Top 50 Markets

Published on June 25, 2007 | Email this article

Clear Channel Radio has, according to a person familiar with the situation, agreed to sign on for Arbitron’s PPM electronic rating system when it is rolled out in the top 50 U.S. markets, writes Radio Ink.

In March, Clear Channel agreed to use PPM measurements for its Philadelphia radio stations, when Philly became the first city in the U.S. to use the new ratings as currency for radio buys.

Clear Channel took its time deciding to use PPMs, having first created a committee to vet a number of different electronic measurement systems and giving funding to Aribtron’s rival, The Media Audit/Ipsos, in order to run a field test of its smart cell phone ratings service.
