Pigs Evolve to Attractive 20-Somethings in Trojan Ad

Published on June 18, 2007 | Email this article

Trojan is breaking a new ad on ABC and NBC, as well as on nine cable networks, tonight, in a campaign worth more than any other campaign in the company’s history. Fox and CBS were not included in the buy because they rejected the ad.

The ad shows women in a bar surrounded by anthropomorphized pigs, writes The New York Times. When one pig purchases a condom in a bathroom vending machine, he turns into a suave young man, who then gets the attention of a woman who had previously been indifferent to him.

Fox and NBC declined to comment on why they had refused the ad, but in a written response to Trojan, Fox said that it rejected the spot because, “Contraceptive advertising must stress health-related uses rather than the prevention of pregnancy.” CBS wrote that, while it understood and appreciated the humor of the spot, “we do not find it appropriate for our network even with late-night-only restrictions.”

In addition to running on NBC and ABC, the ad can be seen on MTV, Comedy Central and Adult Swim, among other cable networks. Print ads will appear in 11 magazines. Ads will also run on seven websites. All ads will direct consumers to TrojanEvolve.com, where the ad can be viewed.
