Film Festivals Sprouting, with Sponsorships

Published on May 29, 2007 | Email this article

Advertiser-supported film festivals are sprouting up around the country, such as the 10-city Free Film Fest tour being sponsored this summer by the Independent Film Channel, writes Media Life.

While IFC is the main sponsor, with Comcast a major sponsor as well, the fest offers additional branding opportunities for major and local sponsors.

The festivities will be held in public parks, with films shown on a 40- by 20-foot portable movie screen, and will run for three weekdays. A different independent film will be shown each evening. Events begin at 6 p.m., with sampling, product demonstrations, sponsor tents, and musical entertainment until the movie begins, at dark.

Festival publicity will include print, radio and online ads, plus promo spots on the IFC and Comcast networks, and national sponsors will be included in all PR for the tour.

The festivals will be held in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit, Boston and Washington, D.C. Sponsorships are available through the Michael Alan Group.
