NFL Network to Appeal Court Ruling for Comcast

Published on May 11, 2007 | Email this article

A New York Supreme Court judge ruled against the NFL Network on Thursday, allowing Comcast to put the network on a sports tier rather than making it part of a basic cable package.

The NFL had sued Comcast last fall, and at the time Comcast was put on a restraining  order disallowing it from putting the channel on the sports tier as it had planned to do at the beginning of this year, writes Mediaweek.

Comcast said that putting the NFL network on a sports tier is the best solution for its customers because it allows NFL fans to choose the NFL Network without burdening non-NFL fans with extra costs.

The NFL Network plans to appeal the ruling.
