‘Get a Divorce’ Sign Comes Down in Chicago

Published on May 10, 2007 | Email this article

A billboard for two lawyers in Chicago has caused such an uproar that it has been removed. The message: Life’s short. Get a divorce.

The billboard showed a partially clothed man and woman, writes the AP (via the Toronto Sun), but it wasn’t the models that caused the scores of complaints so much as the message. Lawyers said it reflected poorly on their profession; neighbors also complained.

A city councilor responsible for removing the sign said it had nothing to do with the content. The lawyers did not have a permit and so were ordered to take it down.

Calls at the law firm increased “dramatically” since the sign was posted.
