Imus and First Amendment Attorney Plan to Fight CBS

Published on May 02, 2007 | Email this article

Don Imus has hired a top First Amendment attorney and plans to fight CBS, which fired him after he made racially charged remarks on the air.

According to a person who has read Imus’s contract, which went into effect in 2006 and paid Imus close to $10 million a year, there was a stipulation that said Imus would be given a warning before being fired for doing what he is known for doing - that is, making off-color remarks, writes Fortune.

The source said that a lawsuit could be filed within a month.
