NBC Universal has announced a licensing agreement to create a Universal-branded theme park in Dubai - Universal City Dubailand - complete with rides, themed attractions, 4,000 hotel rooms, 100 restaurants, retail outlets, office space and residential units.

The theme park, in the United Arab Emirates, will include attractions based on films such as Jurassic Park and King Kong, and will be divided into four zones - Hollywood, Metropolis, Adventure and Cartoon, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

The agreement with Dubai developer Tatweer has no downside, says David Davis, managing director of the investment firm FMV Opinions. “In emerging markets, it’s always better to do licensing deals, because it’s all upside and no downside.”
