Nielsen/NetRatings, comScore Agree in Principle with IAB

Published on April 25, 2007 | Email this article

Nielsen/NetRatings and comScore have both responded positively to the open letter sent last week from the Interactive Advertising Bureau in which bureau president-CEO Randall Rothenberg requested that they participate in a third party audit.

The IAB said in the letter that its goal, and that of its interactive industry members, was to achieve transparency in audience counts and to revise out-of-date methodologies. NetRatings’ president-CEO William Pulver has responded that he “shares the IAB’s enthusiasm for building accountability across the digital marketplace,” and that the company looks forward to meeting with the IAB to discuss the topic, writes BtoB. comScore has also said that it appreciates the objective of accountability, and said that the company’s methodology is currently undergoing evaluation by the Advertising Research Foundation.
