Layoffs Coming at Discovery

Published on April 02, 2007 | Email this article

More changes - and likely unwelcome ones - are looming at Discovery Communications. The media conglomerate announced last week that it was buying out Cox Communications and giving up the Travel Channel.

Now, rumors have it that the company is planning a round of layoffs that could result in the termination of about 300 people, writes Broadcasting & Cable.

The cuts come as new president/CEO David Zaslav continues to make changes to the company. Since being named to the slot in November, he has cut Discovery’s sponsorship of its pro-cycling team and axed 80 people from the education department, among other changes.
