NBC Announces ‘Total Audience Media Interactive Research’ Tool

NBC, eager to reclaim the glamour of its glory days, has been seen by media watchers as a network willing to offer brand new ways of measuring the success of its shows. In May, for example, it will allow guarantees of its shows based on IAG Research data.

Now, NBC has also announced that the network is starting a Total Audience Media Interactive Research tool that will measure the total audience a particular TV show reaches, across television, on cable networks, on streaming video, downloads at iTunes, and viewing via PCs with special Intel Viiv technology, writes MediaPost.

Alan Wurtzel, president of research and media development at NBC Universal, said at a development program meeting with advertising executives yesterday that Heroes, which pulled 16 million viewers for a particular episode, had 18.4 million viewers when the additional media are added in.
