Mobile Internet Growing on Consumers

Published on March 08, 2007 | Email this article

A new study shows that, while mobile internet still has a long way to go before it can be considered mainstream, consumer interest nevertheless seems to be building.

According to a study conducted by the Online Publisher’s Association, 71 percent of mobile users interviewed have mobile web access and 41 percent have used the mobile web, writes Mediaweek. Of those who have surfed the web on their phone, roughly 58 percent say they are dissatisfied, citing slow technology and difficulty navigating.
While 18 percent of respondents said would not mind looking at advertising in exchange for free content, users also said they are willing to pay for some content, such as technology news.

Other third party mobile research reports have found that roughly 10 percent of mobile users regularly access the wireless web.
