Gannett Gets Connecticut Papers from Tribune

Published on March 07, 2007 | Email this article

The Tribune Company plans to sell its daily papers in Stamford and Greenwich, Conn., to the Gannett Company.

The papers, with a combined circulation of 39,000, are the smallest of Tribune’s 11 dailies, and will fetch $73 million from Gannett, writes the AP (via The New York Times). Once the sale is completed, Gannett will own more than 90 U.S. dailies, including U.S.A. Today.

Tribune Co. is in the midst of a six-month strategic review about whether the company will be sold, have its assets sold off, or other options.
