Women of ‘Idol’ More Popular than Men

The two-hour showcase of American Idol‘s final 12 women outperformed the two-hour showcase of the men.

The women’s show on Wednesday pulled a 12.2 rating in the 18-49 demo - 3 percent better than the men the night before, writes Broadcasting & Cable. On Wednesday, Idol built in every half hour, starting with a 10.1 rating and ending with a 13.5.

The show beat all other networks combined.

CBS came in second, with Criminal Minds leading with a 4 rating at 9 p.m. ABC’s new episode of Lost was the top-rated show behind Idol, averaging a 5.7, but the night’s average was pulled down by the new sitcom Knights of Prosperity, which garnered only a 1.6 rating.

NBC came in fourth place. Its highest-rated show for the night was Medium, with a 2.5.
