Dennis Publishing May Sell Men’s Mag ‘Maxim’

Published on February 15, 2007 | Email this article

As the men’s magazine sector continues to struggle, Dennis Publishing Inc., publisher of Maxim, is exploring strategic alternatives including the sale of the magazine.

Dennis Publishing is credited with reviving the failing men’s magazine sector with publications like Maxim, writes Reuters. Dennis also publishes Stuff and Blender, and owns Maxim-themed bars and nightclubs.

Maxim, which publishes 31 international editions, has seen newsstand sales fall 12.2 percent in the second half of last year, though circulation held steady. Stuff magazine newsstand sales fell 35 percent with total circulation falling 4.8 percent in the same period, while Blender total circulation rose 7.4 percent.

Since last spring, Dennis Publishing has been hoping to sell the U.S. unit of the company.
