CBS Announces Mobile Division, Online Pre-Grammy Streams

Published on February 09, 2007 | Email this article

In two separate announcements, CBS said it would stream pre-Grammy star arrivals and create a CBS Mobile division as part of CBS Interative, according to reports from Mediaweek and MediaPost (via MarketingVox).

The websites, for both CBS proper and CBS Radio, will host the webcast of celebrity arrivals at the Grammy ceremony on February 11. Styker, who hosts the radio show Lovelines, will interview the stars as they walk down the red carpet. Most CBS Radio affiliate websites will also stream the footage and promote the webcast on-air.

In announcing the creation of CBS Mobile, the network is primarily looking for more ways to build brand loyalty among audience members. Cross-platform opportunities with CBS’s entertainment, news and sports divisions are either being explored or have already been rolled out.

Mobile news text alerts are already available, and Emmy Awards viewers can send in their votes during the broadcast.
